Starting the New Year with a bang! Edward and Sophie take their son, 8, on pheasant shoot (but this time the prince manages to avoid photo gaffe)

Prince Edward and Sophie take their son pheasant shooting in Sandringham
Prince Edward (right) and his wife took their children Louise, 12, and James, eight, (pictured left with his mother) on a pheasant shoot in Sandringham, Norfolk, despite claims Sophie Wessex had banned him from doing so. Just over a year ago the Earl of Wessex sparked a furore when a photograph emerged of him apparently shooting over the head of his son James, Viscount Severn on the Sandringham estate (seen inset, top). It reportedly led Sophie Wessex (inset, below) to ban the eight-year-old from all shoots over her shock and concern about the affair, although she now appears to have softened her stance after being pictured enjoying a hunting day out with the family.
