Ski blonde, 34, appears in court charged with the murder of businesswoman, 60, who was knifed to death in her own home - as police probe whether she had a love rival
Sarah Williams (pictured, main, at court today, and inset, bottom left), 34, from Leasowe, Wirral, was remanded in custody this morning following a brief appearance before magistrates in Blackburn. She is charged with the murder of Sadie Hartley (bottom right), who was knifed to death at her £450,000 home in Helmshore, Lancashire, on Thursday. A 55-year-old woman from Chester who was arrested on Monday remains in custody. Mrs Hartley's long-term partner Ian Johnston (bottom centre), 54, a retired firefighter and ski instructor, was teaching military personnel in Switzerland when he was informed of her death. He flew home immediately and has since been questioned by officers, though not as a suspect. Police today confirmed that they are continuing to follow a line of enquiry that claims the mother-of-two had a love rival.
