Five Places to Avoid Donald Trump in AtlANTA
Georgia is one of the reddest of the red states, so you'd think it would be almost impossible to avoid Donald Trump during a visit to Atlanta. Wrong. Armed with a little local knowledge, it will be easy to ride out a visit from the erstwhile GOP front-runner the next time he blows into town. None of these five places are likely to be on Mr. Trump's to-do list and quite frankly, we feel sorry for him. He's missing out on some cool stuff.Grab a Beer with all the Lefties at Manuel's Tavern
Manuel's has been the go-to hangout for left-leaning Democratic politicians, journalists, the people who love them or want something from them since 1956. The inside of this famous political watering hole is decorated with memorabilia from Democrats past, including a portrait of John F. Kennedy over the bar. Among the notables who have stopped in for a drink are presidents, former presidents and notables including Barack Obama, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Sam Nunn and Zell Miller. The bar itself has plenty of room for a solitary drink, tete-a-tete lobbying, a book launch party from another Atlanta Journal Constitution reporter, a huge SRO crowd packed in to watch Atlanta sports teams or the first returns on election night. Our advice for hanging out on election night? Get there as early as you can. Parking and bar stools are going to be scarce.
