Mother sees her son, 7, and husband killed by car as they walk home together from Christmas party where the father had been dressed as Santa to hand out presents 

  • Stuart and Fraser Bates were killed as they crossed the A4119 in Wales 
  • Black Alfa Romeo hit the pair around 12.30am in front of the boy's mother
  • South Wales Police confirmed the 22-year-old driver had been arrested 
  • Officers appealed for witnesses and floral tributes were left at the scene 



A mother watched in horror as her husband and seven-year-old son were killed while holding hands and crossing the road on the way home from a 'Christmas jumpers' party.
Mother-of-two Anna Bates was walking home from the party with husband Stuart, 43, who was dressed as Santa, and seven-year-old Fraser when both were hit by a car in Talbot Green, South Wales.
Mrs Bates and other family members were behind Mr Bates and his son as they returned home from a friends house when the tragedy happened. The couple also have a three-year-old daughter Elizabeth.
The father and son were said to have been walking hand in hand when they were hit.
