UK weather sees Storm Desmond blow in and flood warnings issued across BritainDesmond blows in: Red KILLER flood warnings are issued across Britain as worst storm of the year brings landslides, travel chaos and causes rivers to break their banks.

The Met Office issued its first red warning since February 2014 as the storm blows in, expected to flood huge areas in the north and along the Welsh border, with downpours falling on already saturated ground as rivers are already at breaking point. The environment Agency has issued 17 severe flood warnings which means lives could be put in danger, as the storm brings winds of 80mph along with up to eight inches of rain peaking this afternoon and continuing into the early hours. It has already flooded roads in Glasgow (pictured), and forced a number of Scottish Premiership matches to be cancelled just hours before fans were expected to arrive. Strong gales have uprooted a tree in Billingham, Teesside and forced a nightclub to evacuate in Middlesbrough after the sign was blown off the front.
