Villagers are up in arms after their local council spent £21,000 on a bizarre blue Christmas tree that looks more like a wizard's hat.
People in Birstall, Leicestershire, accused town hall bosses of wasting taxpayers' money on the tree, which has also been compared to a Dunce's hat and a nuclear warhead.
They have now launched a petition to remove the tree from the heart of the village just days after it was installed, but the council has already hired it for three years.
