Eva Longoria flashes ruby ring as she says José Bastón didn't know who she was when they first met... and reveals couple won't rush to wed

She became engaged to boyfriend José Antonio Bastón during a romantic trip to Dubai last month.

And Eva Longoria dished a little more about her fiance - who she affectionately calls Pepe or Mr. Fancy Pants - as she sat down with Ellen DeGeneres on her chat show on Friday.

The 40-year-old revealed that the Televisa president didn't know who she was when they first met in 2013, having never watched an episode of Desperate Housewives.

She said: 'Somebody introduced us and he was like "uh", which is great by the way. Which I loved. Yeah he’s never known me as working. He’s like "oh so you’re an actress?"'

'And I’m like yeah I'm a pretty big deal in China. People see my show all over the world. But no he’s great, but he still hasn’t seen it.'

Ellen probed whether Jose, 47, had seen people come up to her, giving away how much of a mega star she is.

'Always. People come up to me all the time and he just doesn't really get it. He's like "they really like you". Then he goes like, "I’m gonna watch, I’m gonna watch everybody talks about it I’m gonna watch,"

'And he tries to watch and of course I'm like banging the gardener in the first season and he’s like "I don't want to watch" and I was like "yeah, yeah lets jump to season 5. That’s when I was like not sleeping with anybody."' 

The Telenovela star said that the couple has not yet set a wedding date and are just enjoying the engagement right now.

This will be the Texan beauty's third time down the aisle following marriages to General Hospital star Tyler Christopher and French basketball pro Tony Parker. 

José meanwhile shares three children - daughter Natalia, 20, Mariana, 12, Jose, 12, with his first wife Natalia Esperón.

The actress, wearing a form-fitting blush dress with white overlay portion, took the opportunity to flash her stunning ruby engagement ring to cheers from the audience.

Eva told Ellen that Jose is very private but that she just couldn't wait to announce the news of their engagement to the world and did so via Twitter and Instagram. 

Last month Eva told People of her husband-to-be: 'I want to yell from the highest mountaintop about everything that goes on with us because I'm so happy and excited to be with a person as kind as Pepe is

'He is probably one of the first men I've dated that has been older and established and, basically, a grown-up. It is so nice to be arm-in-arm with someone who is your equal.'
