South Ayrshire bus passengers trapped in floods after Storm Frank hits UK

Twelve bus passengers including a girl, five, are saved in dramatic HELICOPTER rescue after getting trapped in floods as Storm Frank hits UK with 80mph gales and the North gets month's rain in a day

The Stagecoach bus was engulfed by floodwater in Dailly, South Ayrshire, after a nearby river breached its banks. Police, firefighters, coastguard teams, the RNLI and even a Royal Navy search and rescue Sea King helicopter (left) were scrambled to the incident (right). Dramatic pictures showed the Number 58 bus - which was on a diversion from its usual route between Ayr and Girvan - bobbing in deep floodwater. Police Scotland said four men, six women, a seven-year-old boy and a girl aged five had been rescued by helicopter and the force's marine unit. Areas such as Blackpool, Exmouth in Devon and Wales have been battered by winds of up to 80mph, while flooded communities across northern England and Scotland have been enduring up to six inches of rain.
