NICKI Minaj’s older brother has been charged with raping a 12-year-old child, according to reports in the US.
Jelani Maraj, 37, was arrested on Thursday on a first-degree rape charge before being freed from a Nassau County jail in New York on £66,000 bail, according to online court and jail records as well as a source close to the case.
No further details about the alleged incident have yet been revealed and the Nassau district attorney’s office has declined to comment.
However, it seems Nicki is standing by her brother as the New York Post reports she is the one who put up the pricey sum to get him out of jail.
The bond is supported by two properties which she owns, which are used by her younger brother Micaiah and her mum Carol.
A source said: “She was prepared to do anything for her brother.”
In August, the Anaconda rapper, 32, took to Instagram to declare her love for Jelani as he wed his long-time girlfriend Jacqueline Robinson in Baldwin, New York.
Posting several snaps of them together, she wrote: “Jelani, I love u more than you'll ever comprehend.
“I would cross the ocean for u. I would go & bring u the moon. Promise u. For u I will. I love my brother so much man.
"Can't believe I cried during his wedding and his first dance like a punk. May God bless him and his union.
"Tonight has been one of my favorite nights of all time. I do anything to see my brothers smile.”
As well as Jelani and Micaiah, Minaj has a sister named Ming.
