Mother has SIXTEEN babies taken away from her: Shocking case revealed as number of newborns removed at birth and put into care soars by 150% in five years
Family court records reveal that in 2013 some 2,018 babies were taken into care at birth or soon afterwards, up from 802 in 2008. Between 2007 and 2014 a total of 13,248 babies were removed by the authorities. It included one mother who had 16 babies taken away from her. Education Secretary Nicky Morgan said more needed to be done to prevent the 'cycle of failure'.
