Mohammed Rehman's wife begged for mercy over Westfield shopping centre bomb plot

'I was in an abusive and controlling relationship': Jihadi bomb-maker's wife blames her husband in begging letter to judge - but couple are still jailed for 52 years for plotting attack on Westfield shopping centre

Sana Ahmed Khan (main), 24, an English graduate whose mother was a magistrate, begged the judge for mercy as she was ordered to spend 25 years behind bars for her part in the terror plot. In a letter written to the judge, she said she 'should have distanced herself' from Mohammed Rehman (inset) 'a long time ago' and had recently written to her husband granting him an Islamic divorce. She also said she 'desperately wanted to stop' but that her addiction to drugs had clouded her mind. It came as unemployed Rehman - whose dream of blowing up either Westfield shopping centre (inset) or the London Underground was funded by his wife - was jailed for a minimum of 27 years. But Mr Justice Jeremy Baker dismissed her pleading letter, sentencing her to life imprisonment, and saying she had 'full knowledge' of Rehman's plans and 'took a full and active part' in encouraging it.
