Husband charged with shooting wife dead in care home was 'talked out of suicide with a cuddle'
Rita King (left), 81, was allegedly gunned down in front of frail residents by spouse Ronald, 86, who is said to have mumbled 'she has had enough' before pulling the trigger. A murder investigation was launched at De La Mer House (right) in Essex in the wake of Monday's shooting, and police have now charged Mr King, who was staying at the care home to be with his wife over Christmas, with killing her. A post mortem examination took place today, revealing that Mrs King died as a result of a gunshot wound to the head. Home manager Julie Curtis (inset) said she 'cuddled' Mr King and talked him out of suicide. He will appear in court on Wednesday morning.
