Ebonyi Militants invasion: IGP orders deployment of armored boats

The Inspector General of Police, (IGP) Solomon Arase has ordered the deployment of armored boats to riverine areas in the boundary of Ebonyi and Cross River States to checkmate activities of hoodlums. se Abakaliki.
AIG Bolanta who was on a familiarization tour of the state explained that the decision by the Police high command to deploy armed boats in the water ways beginning from next rainy season was to ensure that the recent invasion of Afikpo by suspected armed robbers does not re-occur. He regretted the loss of a Police Inspector and Patrol vehicle in the incident and called for the assistance of Ebonyi State government in equipping Marine police to counter any threat to security in riverine areas.
